Farnboro Day - 5th December

Many thanks to all the players, parents, supporters, managers and coaches who turned up at Cherrywood Road yesterday afternoon to support the Farnboro side in their league match against Nuneaton Town.

Unfortunately Boro were unable to beat their opposition, losing 2-0 to a goal in each half, but the swell of support from those in the red/black of Cavaliers was hard to miss, as the 107 of us packed out a large section of the family stand.

Cavaliers plan to organise at least 1 more Supporter day at Farnboro before the end of the season, but please remember, if you have a membership card, you are welcome to use it at any home league fixture.

Calling Out For Old Kit

Gough Foundation, Gambia.

You may remember a recent call to all Cavaliers players to donate any old playing kit and equipment to a great charitable cause. All this was co-ordinated by Bye Wadda, the father of a player from our U13s, and a key person within the Gough Sports Foundation in Gambia. On 10th November 2009, that kit was proudly passed on to over 250 Gambian children representing 11 football academies from U12s to U16s.

A big thankyou to you all for your kind donations. It's good to know that we can recycle our equipment and bring smiles to so many faces.

If you have any spare kit, boots etc that is no longer of use to you, please contact Mike Clothier.

Coaching Qualification Success

Our congratulations go to Alex O'Shea (U9s), Ben Hargreaves (U14s) and Nick Waterton (U11s) who have all recently passed their FA Level 1 Coaching certificate.

A superb result, well done lads. Level 2 beckons !!

Farnborough and Bracknell Cavaliers

As part of Farnborough FC long term plans to build community links with a select few local football clubs, Bracknell Cavaliers are really proud to be the first in the area to announce our first club link with Farnborough FC.

Bracknell Cavaliers FC are celebrating their 25 year anniversary this year and have recently achieved Charter Standard Club Development Status. This award is a culmination of the great work the club have undertaken in developing their infrastructure, incorporating a 3 year development plan outlining plans for development of facilities, local community links and support for the development of their coaching workforce. Very key to their development has been the support of their long term sponsor Rodger Duckworth of RD Physio.

Cavaliers currently consist of 18 teams, for girls and boys, from U7s through to U18s, plus a thriving Soccer School for those under 6.

The Farnborough Cavaliers club link has already proved fruitful with 3 Cavaliers players - Rob Dunbar, Jake Somerville and Kennie Chamberlain now signed and playing for Farnborough Elite U16s and the hope for future players to come through the ranks.

Cavaliers Chairman Andy Dunbar who was instrumental in building the link said ”Like any team, you are only as good as the people around you and at Cavaliers we have a superb team who all put a lot of effort in. Forging this link will help Cavaliers strengthen its commitment to providing quality opportunities for young players within the community”.

Cavaliers 'Farnborough' day - Saturday 5th December

Many of the Club players have now visited Farnborough and had their pictures taken and been issued with a Season ticket allowing them free admission to League Home games.

On the 5th December, Cavaliers will be trying to get as many of these players as possible to the Farnborough home game.

Can all managers / coaches please let Andy Dunbar know how many of their squad will be attending as part of this Club Link day, so that enough seats are reserved for our "Red and Black" army.

Goalkeeper Training

GK training is here again and once again it will be be coached by Ashley and Andy.

Starting on Sunday 25th October, the course will consist of 6 1hr sessions, running fortnightly - 4 before Christmas and 2 in the New Year.

It will start at 8.30am for U12s to U17s and the second session will run from 9.45am for U7s to U11s inclusive.

This was a huge success story for the club last year and we are really proud to be able to provide similar specialist training again this year.

We look forward to seeing all the club goalies taking advantage of these sessions.

Any questions, please give Andy Dunbar or Mike Clothier a call.

Old Boys

Please note that Bracknell Cavaliers Old Boys, playing in the first division of the Bracknell & District Sunday League, are in no way connected with Bracknell Cavaliers FC.

Cavaliers Achieve Development Status

In the lead up to our 25 year anniversary Bracknell Cavaliers have achieved Charter Standard Club Development Status. This achievement marks a major development behind the scenes at the club and reflects the immense amount of work being undertaken by volunteers of the club.

Paul Backman, Football Development Officer at Berks & Bucks FA said “This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with the club and I would like to thank them for all their hard work over the past year. Upgrading their charter standard to development status is a real statement of intent and shows that the club are fully committed to providing high quality opportunities for all the young people in their local community to play football.”

New Season - Chairman's Message

With the new season kicking off on Saturday 5th September for some of the older age groups and the rest starting a week later, it is an opportune time for me to wish every player, coach, manager and supporter of Bracknell Cavaliers FC all the very best for the 2009-10 season.

Play your best; play fair; respect the match officials and most importantly, enjoy yourselves.

Have a great season !!

Andy Dunbar

Soccer School 2009

We would like to inform you all that the Cavaliers Soccer School continues every Friday. Until the end of September (when we move to astro at EP School), training is on grass at Birch Hill Hockey club, starting at 6.15pm.

From late September, training will move to Easthampstead Park School between 6pm and 7pm.

Soccer school is open to children aged between 4 and 6 and concentrates on the real basics skills to build a solid foundation in the art of football.

Whilst on grass, football boots are optional, but trainers must be worn on the astro. Shin pads must be worn and because it is thirsty work, please bring some non-fizzy drink with you.

As a Charter Standard Club, all our sessions will be run by FA Qualified coaches, who are certificated in emergency aid and are CRB approved.

All are welcome to attend and if you have any friends that also wish to play football, then bring them along.

Ask for Lee and/or Mike on the night or for more details contact Mike on 07962 085609.

Referee Qualification Success

Club Congratulations go to William Dawson, David Irving and Matthew Rimmer who have become the latest Cavaliers to qualify as referees.

Well done to all of you... we look forward to you taking control of more club games, whilst wearing your 'blacks'.

U10 Cup success - Saturday 2nd May

Congratulations to the Bracknell Cavaliers U10 team who were triumphant in their Cup final match, beating Twyford Comets Diamonds 3-2 after an enthralling, action packed game.

Well done to the whole team!!

U15 Cup disappointment - Saturday 25th April

After a fiercely fought Cup final, Cavaliers were unlucky to be on the end of a 2-1 defeat against their close rivals Eldon Celtic.

The boys, with a couple of players out to injury, put up a brave attempt despite going down to a penalty in the first minute.

Unlucky lads.

Cavaliers 2009 Six-a-side Tournament a Great Success

We would like to thank all of those teams that helped make the Cavaliers six-a-side tournament a great success this April.

The quality of football continues to improve every year and was a joy to watch. It was also great to see such sporting behavior from the players and supporters alike to make the tournament enjoyable for everyone.

We were very lucky with the weather this year as the sun shone on all three days. (No snow this time!)

We have received many emails and phone calls from team Mangers who wanted to let us know how much they, their players and spectators enjoyed the tournament. We appreciate all these supportive comments as they add to the enjoyment of running the event.

Thanks must also go to all of the volunteers who helped set up, in the kitchen, in the car park and tidied up at the end.

We look forward to seeing your all again at the next Cavaliers tournament.

Coaching Qualification Success

Our congratulations go to Malcolm Maziere (U10s), Lee Maynard (U11s) and Mike Clothier (U12s) who all passed their FA Level 2 Coaching certificate on 01 March 2009.

These successes, combined with recent Level 1 passes, give Cavaliers the strongest, most accredited coaching team ever. This will be a good springboard for the club as we move towards Charter Development Club Status.

Well done lads.....keep up the good work and onwards to Level 3 !!!

Coaching Qualification Successes

Our congratulations go to Katy Steel (U9s) and Kelly Strong (U9 Girls) who both passed their Level 1 Coaching in February.

Well done girls... we look forward to you becoming more involved in the training of your teams in the future.

Our congrats also go to the following coaches who passed their Level 1 coaching certificates this season : Simon Bennett, Ian Fallows and Adam Smith.

Referee Qualification Success

Congratulations to Connor Vernon and Rob Dunbar who become the latest Cavaliers to qualify as referees.

Well done guys... we look forward to you taking control of more club games, whilst wearing your 'blacks'
